Authentic Rhode Island Weiner (but vegan!)

This recipe makes one authentic Rhode Island-style weiner.

Ingredients for weiner:

1 Litelife hotdog (or any brand veggie dog)
1 hotdog bun
4 oz (115 g) Impossible beef (or any veggie beef grounds)
1 tablespoon (15 g) weiner seasoning
1/4 cup (57 g) chopped yellow onion
Celery salt (for garnish)
Yellow mustard (for garnish)

Ingredients for weiner seasoning:

1 tablespoon (15 g) chili powder
1 tablespoon (15 g) paprika
1/4 teaspoon (1.25 g) curry powder
1/2 teaspoon (2.5 g) cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon (1.25 g) pumpkin pie spice


  1. Make the weiner seasoning by mixing all the spices into a small zip lock bag
  2. Cook the veggie dog according to the instructions on the package
  3. Cook veggie beef grounds according to the instructions on the package, but halfway through cooking, add 1 tablespoon (15 g) of the weiner seasoning to the grounds
  4. Mix the seasoning into the grounds until they are fully cooked
  5. Lightly sauteé onions (optional, authentic weiners have raw onion)
  6. Assemble the weiner: bun, hotdog, beef grounds, onions, sprinkling of cekery salt, then mustard

That’s it! Enjoy a little taste of Rhode Island.
